Guidelines for the art and Photo Contest


The contest is open to the general public regardless of age

Artwork Guidelines

Your artwork is to be of Lake Robinson and its environs. Only original art, created in 2015 or later, and submitted by the artist will be accepted. If creating art in the park, please respect the rules and refrain from entering the restricted areas marked in the park. Please include, on the entry form, a brief description of where the photograph or artwork was created. 

Entry Fee and procedure

We are asking for a non refundable entry fee of $10.00 per entry (students half price), with a limit of two entries per artist.  The entry fee must be received before September 26.

To enter the contest:

  • Fill in and submit the online application form (a link to the application is at the bottom of this page)
  • You will receive an email for each image entered in the contest. Follow the instructions in the email regarding how to submit your photo
  • If you are submitting a photograph, you will need to send a JPG file sized to 2048 pixels on the long edge.
  • For other types of 2D art, take a high quality digital photograph of your artwork and send a JPG file sized to 2048 pixels on the long edge.


Accepted artwork must be mounted for hanging, securely wired and may be framed. Maximum frame dimension is 22 inches on the longest edge. If works are not adequately prepared for display, they will be withdrawn from the contest


Accepted entries must be hand delivered to 108 Blue Water Trail Taylors, SC on Tuesday October 3,  from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.


First place $100
Second Place $50
Third place $25

Sale of photos

Sales are at artist’s discretion. If the artist wishes to place his or her work up for sale, it must be indicated on the application form. All proceeds go to the artist. The buyer will be responsible for contacting the artist to arrange purchase. There will be no sales at the park.

Important Dates

  • Submit JPG images: no later than September 11
  • Entry fee must be paid before September 26
  • Notification of results: September 19
  • Delivery of accepted works: Tuesday October 3,  from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Exhibition dates:
    • October 8 at the main pavilion of J Vern Smith Park
    • Greer City Hall, with dates to be determined
  • Pickup after exhibition will be after the display at Greer City Hall

Other information

The Friends of Lake Robinson will handle entries with utmost care, but is not responsible for loss or damage to the submitted artwork. All accepted entries must grant permission to Friends of Lake Robinson to use the photos on saleable note cards, our web site, and on communication cards to FOLR members.
