Day of celebration 2015

Many activities are planned for the Friends of Lake Robinson Eighth Annual Day of Celebration to be held October 18 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunrift Adventures will provide kayaks and canoes for those interested in trying one out. The City of Greer Parks and Recreation Department will provide children’s activities including a casting contest. Inflatables will be provided by the Friends of Lake Robinson. Lillian Hanley of the City of Greer Stormwater Division has organized a Stewardship Fair highlighting numerous organizations that will share ideas about protecting the lake and environs, enjoying the plant and animal life, and living in harmony with nature. This event is a great place to pick up community service ideas for high school students as well as find ideas for science projects and Scout projects. The Lake Cunningham Fire Department will provide a Fire Safety Trailer, fire prevention education and a demonstration on how to act if found in a fire situation. The S. C. Department of Natural Resources will have a virtual fishing simulator available to give people an opportunity to experience catching fish of different sizes. The Rotary Club of Greater Greer will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks throughout the afternoon for a nominal fee. Local musical talent, Locust Grove Blue Grass Band, will entertain the crowd from 3 to 5pm with Joe Beam and his band leading off the music from 1 to 3pm. Entries in the art competition will be on display.  

The event is free to the public. All attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to sit and to enjoy the show.  Any proceeds from the event will be devoted to paying for the events and activities to preserve Lake Robinson as well as support local high school scholarships.

The Friends of Lake Robinson, along with the Greer Commission of Public Works, Blue Ridge Rural Water Company,  Bank of Travelers Rest, Citizens Building and Loan, Greer State bank and Stillwaters at Lake Robinson, will hold the eighth annual Lake Robinson Day of Celebration on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Verne Smith Park from 1 to 6pm. The park is located next to the Lake Robinson dam at 2544 Mays Bridge Road in Greer. The group has been planning the event since the summer with the help of numerous organizations
